For the second consecutive year, Valley Freightliner, Inc., sponsored South Sound Speedway’s annual Big Rig race event.
More than 4,000 spectators poured into the grand stands at South Sound Speedway this year to watch National Association of Big Rigs (NABR) annual event Saturday night July 19th. The awesome smoke-billowing NABR Big Rigs, the Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks wowed the onlookers. Eleven Big Rig race teams went head to head around South Sound Speedway’s 3/8 mile track, racers were trading paint and blowing enough black smoke to be seen in Seattle.
Each year, Valley Freightliner, Inc., sponsors this spectacular event as a show of customer appreciation, and to say thanks to the communities of Thurston and Lewis counties for such a warm welcome into the area since opening their third location off of Exit 95 in April 2012.Professional races with trucks made for the contest are a relatively new concept in the United States. The racing championship was exclusively a field for light cars until 1989 when the North American Big Rig Racing Association began operations in Canada, and, then in 1997, the South Sound Speedway in Washington. If you haven’t taken the opportunity to witness the NABR Big Rigs and enjoy some racing history at South Sound Speedway, you certainly need to mark your calendar for next year’s event!
Valley Freightliner, Inc. would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Thurston and Lewis county residents, businesses and government agencies for their continued support and seamless integration into the area.
